Why Having a Blog Isn’t Enough

We all know that Google thinks content is king, good content anyway. It only makes sense to add a blog to your business website to try to rank a bit higher in search engines and to attract people who want to know more about your niche. However, if all you do is blog, you are missing out on the entire purpose of creating valuable content for readers.

Different Types of Content

There are so many different types of content you can offer to your readers. Yes, blog posts can be important, but keep in mind that there are many different ways to deliver content to your readers.

Newsletter

A newsletter gives you the opportunity to directly reach your readers via their inbox. Studies show that 77% of customers prefer email as the ideal form of marketing communication, assuming they gave you permission to send them emails. Otherwise, the statistics are quite different. Don’t spam, but do create an opt-in mailing list for your site visitors.

Video

Even using the word “video” in an email headline will increase open rate by about 19%. Video is just another format to offer to your readers. Some people don’t enjoy reading that much, but will watch a video tutorial to learn more about your niche. Video adds another level of credibility and interest to your website.

Ebook for Subscribing

Because they’ve often been offered incentive for subscribing, readers expect it these days. Write an ebook on a topic your readers are already interested in and offer it in exchange for their contact information. This can allow you to easily build your mailing list. Even better, the list will be highly targeted to an audience already interested in the topics you offer.

Infographics

Infographics allow you to take a lot of statistical info and research and condense it into images and snippets of information. They are a fast way for people to get information fast. Make them shareable and you increase your reach tenfold.

Podcasts/Internet Radio

Have you tried releasing podcasts/internet radio shows. Places like BlogTalkRadio.com allow you to easily record a show on any topic you choose. You can even set the show to record so people can listen to it at their own convenience. A radio show also allows you to reach out to experts in your industry and invite them to talk on a particular topic of interest to your listeners.

These are just a few of the ways to reach out to your readers. Of course, you should continue to provide excellent blog posts. Just remember that great content is more than a simple article or two, though.
